Importance of SEO in Digital Marketing

What is SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)?
The Oxford English Dictionary defines SEO as: 
The process of maximizing the number of visitors to a particular website by ensuring that the site appears high on the list of results returned by a search engine.

Imagine you have a shop or outlet, but no signage, apart from passing trade or established contacts you will get very little business. If you could somehow let people find you that would increase your business many times. SEO is the approach that refines and tailors your website content so that the popular search engines can match you to potential customer searches.

We see SEO and Marketing as close parallels. they both aim to improve revenue, increase traffic on the client website, and ultimately increase profits. 

They differ in that one aims to improve visibility by being easier to be found the other by bringing the website to the attention of customers by running adverts.

We always take an agnostic view on the blend of the two but always encourage clients to err towards improving SEO on a site to just throwing money at advertising.
